What should I expect?

Take a look at the information below if you'd like to know a bit more about what to expect before your appointment. If you still have any questions, feel free to get in touch

Your first appointment

Your first appointment is an assessment appointment- the purpose of this appointment is to collect

all of the information we need for our work together, including a brief history of your difficulties,

your understanding of these difficulties and what might be keeping these issues going. There is no

expectation for you to have all of the answers beforehand! I will also talk briefly about confidentiality

and other important pieces of information. We will make sure that any questions or concerns that

you may have are answered before we start, including what would make the session more

comfortable for you. If you are attending in person, we'll be at The Practice Rooms.

Prior to our appointment I will have sent you some documents and a symptom questionnaire to

complete. Please bring these along to the appointment unless you have returned them electronically.

When attending the appointment, you might want to bring someone along with you for support- that's great. You are also very welcome to attend the session alone. For any older children and young people, it might be helpful to have parents attend the session too, although not essential. For any children under 12, parents would need to accompany them to their assessment and be present at the start/end of each appointment.

By the end of the appointment, we should both have a shared understanding of what is going on for

you and a plan of how we hope to address it. If you leave the assessment haven't forgotten something you hoped to mention- don't worry! You can always get in touch by email or just let me know at the next appointment.

You are welcome to attend

your assessment alone or with whoever you feel supported by.
